NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2020

Solution:

The cervical mucus plug is called 'operculum'. It acts as a protective barrier that prevents bacteria to enter the uterus and contains antimicrobial agents like immunoglobulins, antimicrobial peptides, etc. During the end of pregnancy, this plug can come out as it is or can be discharged over several days. This plug is generally formed after implantation. Increase in progesterone level increases the thickness of the mucus released by the cervix and helps in the formation of the plug.
Solution
Estrogen is a primary sex hormone of females which is responsible for maintenance of primary and secondary sexual characters of females.
