The hardest substance of vertebrate body is enamel. It is present in the crown region of the outer most layer. Enamel is secreted by the cells called ameloblast. Normally ameloblast cells are not seen after the eruption of teeth, ie, this layer is not formed after the teeth eruption but in some cases these cells are visible also.
