Cyanobacteria or BGA are first photosynthetic organism on earth which stared production of oxygen in their photosynthesis, thus their photosynthesis is called as oxygenic photosynthesis. They had chlorophyll a similar to higher plants thus were capable of causing photolysis of water to release oxygen.
