Jharkhand CECEJharkhand CECE 2015

Solution:

The first acceptor of electrons from an excited chlorophyll molecule of photosystem-II is plastoquinone. PS-II is an extremely complex, highly organised transmembrane structure found in all chloroplasts that contains a water splitting complex, chlorophylls and carotenoid pigments, a reaction centre $ ({{P}_{680}}), $ pheophytin and two quinones. It uses the energy of sunlight to transfer electrons from water to a mobile electron carrier in the membrane called plastoquinone. Plastoquinone. in turn, transfers electrons to $ cyt_{6}^{b}, $ which feeds them into PS-I.
