Corpus luteum, yellow hormone-secreting body in the female reproductive system that secretes progesterone which further maintains endometrium. Graafian follicle produce a hormone called estrogen by the follicular granulosa cells.
If fertilization does not occur, the corpus luteum involutes to form the corpus Albicans that is filled with fibrous tissue.
