Chylomicrons are plasma lipoproteins containing reconstituted triglycerides, phospholipids and cholesterol produced by the epithelial cells of intestinal villi. They are hydrolysed by the activity of the lipoprotein lipase, allowing the released free fatty acids to be absorbed by the tissues
