Diamagnetic substances when placed in a magnetic field are feebly magnetised opposite to the direction of the magnetising field, to example copper. Paramagnetic substances when placed in a magnetic field are feebly magnetised in a direction of the magnetising field, example aluminium. Ferromagnetic substances when placed in a agnetic field are strongly magnetised in the direction of the magnetising field, example iron.
