: Oviparity is the production of undeveloped eggs, which are laid or spawned by the female. Echidna is as insectivorous, nocturnal burrowing prototherian and are oviparous mammals. Its eggs are large with abundant yolk and hard shell. Macropus (kangaroo) belongs to metatheria and give birth to immature young ones. Talpa (short tailed mole) and Erinaceons (hedgehog) belongs to eutheria and are viviparous.
