Q.
The equivalent resistance between the terminals $A$ and $D$ in the following circuit is
Current Electricity
Solution:
The effective circuit is shown in the figure.
The resistance of arm $E H G=10\, \Omega+10\, \Omega=20\, \Omega,$
will be parallel to resistance of arm
$E F G=10\, \Omega+10\, \Omega=20\, \Omega$.
Their effective resistance $=\frac{20\, \Omega \times 20\, \Omega}{20\, \Omega+20\, \Omega}=10\, \Omega$
Therefore, the equivalent resistance between $A$ and $D$
$=5\, \Omega+10\, \Omega+5\, \Omega=20\, \Omega$
