Q. The equilibrium constants for the reaction, $A_{2} \rightleftharpoons 2 A$ at $500\, K$ and $700\, K$ are $1 \times 10^{-10}$ and $1 \times 10^{-5}$. The given reaction is

IIT JEEIIT JEE 1996Equilibrium

Solution:

For the reaction,
$A_{2} \rightleftharpoons 2 A$
$K=\frac{[A]^{2}}{\left[A_{2}\right]}$
The value of equilibrium constant is very less and hence, the product concentration is also very less.
So, the reaction is slow.
