Q. The equation of the perpendicular bisector of the line segment joining $A(- 2, 3)$ and $B(6, - 5)$ is

Straight Lines

Solution:

Mid point of given line segment $AB$ is $(2, -1)$.
Now, slope of the line segment $AB$ is $- 8/8 = -1$
Slope of the required line segment is $1$.
So equation of the required line is
$y + 1 = 1(x - 2)$
$\Rightarrow x - y = 3$.
