Q. The equation of the line parallel to the line $3x - 4y + 2 = 0 $ and passing through $(-2, 3 )$ is

KCETKCET 2018Straight Lines

Solution:

Equation of line parallel to $3x - 4y + 2 = 0$ is $3x - 4y + k = 0 \,\,\,\,\,\dots(1)$
(1) passes through (-2, 3)
$\Rightarrow \, 3(-2) - 4(3) + k = 0$
$\Rightarrow \, -6 - 12 + k = 0$
$\Rightarrow \,k = 18$
$\therefore $ Equation of the required line is
$3x - 4y + 18 = 0$
