Enzymes are complex nitrogenous organic compound (i.e., made up of protein) which increases rate of reaction in an organism by decreasing activation energy. Functional forms of enzymes are known as holoenzymes. It consist of a protein pan known as apoenzyme and a non-protein pan i.e., a prosthetic group (coenzyme or a metal ion).
