Q. The end product of ornithine cycle is:

NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2022

Solution:

The end product of ornithine cycle is urea. Most of the ammonium ions formed by deamination of amino acids in the liver is changed to urea, and this urea is excreted in the urine.
The formation of urea via ornithine cycle requires conversion of the amino acid ornithine to citrulline and then to arginine, following which urea cleaves and ornithine is restored.
