Q. The empirical formula of a compound is $CH_{2}O.$ $0.0835$ moles of the compound contains $1.0g$ of hydrogen. Molecular formula of the compound is :-

NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2020

Solution:

$30gCH_{2}O \rightarrow 2g$ of hydrogen
$15gCH_{2}O \rightarrow 1g$ of hydrogen
$0.0835$ moles of $CH_{2}O$ has a mass of $15g$
$\therefore $ Molar mass $=\frac{\text{ Mass }}{\text{ Moles }}=\frac{15}{0 . 0835}=179.6\sim eq180$
$\therefore C_{6}H_{12}O_{6}=180$
