Damping force, $F \propto v$ or $F=k v$
where $k$ is the constant of proportionality
$\therefore k=\frac{F}{v}=\frac{ N }{ m s ^{-1}}$
$=\frac{ kg \,m {s } ^ { - 2 } }{ m s ^{-1}}= kg \,s ^{-1}$
