Solution:

the equivalent resistance of the circuit
$\textit{R} = \frac{3 \times 1 2}{3 + 1 2} = \frac{3 6}{1 5} = \frac{1 2}{5} \Omega$
$\therefore $ Current in circuit, $\textit{I} = \frac{\textit{V}}{\textit{R}}$
$=\frac{4 \cdot 8}{\left(\frac{1 2}{5}\right)}=\frac{4 \cdot 8 \times 5}{1 2}=2A$
