Q. The correct representation of Nernst's equation is

Electrochemistry

Solution:

$E=E^{\circ}-\frac{R T}{n F} \ln \frac{1}{\left[M^{n+}\right]} ;$

$\Rightarrow E=E^{\circ}+\frac{R T}{n F} \ln \left[M^{n+}\right]$

$\Rightarrow E=E^{\circ}+\frac{2.303\, R T}{n F} \log \left[M^{n+}\right]$

Substituting the value of $R, T(298\, K )$ and $F$, we get

$E=E^{\circ}+\frac{0.0591}{n} \log \left(M^{n+}\right)$
