Q. The conversion of $A \rightarrow B$ follows second order kinetics. If $[A]$ is increased 3 times then rate of formation of $[B]$ is

JIPMERJIPMER 2015Chemical Kinetics

Solution:

For a second order kinetics, rate = $k[A]^2$. If concentration of $A$ is increased by three times, rate = $k[3A]^2$. Hence, the rate of formation of $[B]$ increases 9 times.
