The compound $H_{2}N-Hg-O-Hg-I$ is formed by the reaction of $NH_{3}$ and $K_{2}HgI_{4}$ (Nesslar's reagent).

$NH _{3}+2 K _{2} HgI _{4}+3 KOH$ $\rightarrow H _{2} N - Hg - O - Hg - I +7 KI +2 H _{2} O$ (Iodide of millon's base)
