: Chipko Movement was started in Tehri garhwal district ofuttranchal under the leadership of Mr. Sunder lal Bahuguna. He presented a plan regarding ban on tree felling in Himalayas at the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) meeting held in London in 1982.
