: The molecular formula of chlorophyll a (blue green pigment) is $ {{C}_{55}}{{H}_{72}}{{O}_{5}}{{N}_{4}}Mg $ and that of chlorophyll b (yellow green pigment) is $ {{C}_{55}}{{H}_{70}}{{O}_{6}}{{N}_{4}}Mg $ . $ Chl\,a $ and $ Chl\,b $ differ in such way that in $ Chl\,b $ there is $ a-CHO $ group instead of $ a-C{{H}_{3}} $ group at the 3rd C atom in II pyrrol ring.
