Jharkhand CECEJharkhand CECE 2003

Solution:

Starch is the most abundant and common storage polysaccharide inplants. It is a polymer of Dglucopyranose units linked by $\alpha-1,4$ glycosidic linkages. Starch consists of a mixture of amylose and amylopectin in $1: 4$ ratio. The chemical formula of starch is $\left(C_{6} H_{10} O_{5}\right)_{n} . C _{12} H _{22} O _{11}$ is represented as sucrose (canesugar). It is widely distributed among higher plants although its commercial sources are sugarcane and sugarbeet. It consists of D-glucose and D-fructose. $CH _{3} COOH$ is the chemical formula of acetic acid.
