Q. The cell at $G_{2}$ phase contains $20$ pg of DNA with $20$ chromosomes. The DNA content $\left(\right.x\left.\right)$ , number of chromosomes $\left(\right.y\left.\right)$ in a cell performing meiosis at telophase II stage is?

NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2020

Solution:

The DNA content with 20pg in the meiocyte undergoes meiosis to form four haploid cells with 5pg of DNA and the number of chromosomes will be reduced to 10 in a cell performing meiosis at the telophase II stage. The haploid cells are formed from the diploid meiocyte.
In telophase, the chromosomes reach opposite poles, cytokinesis occurs, the two cells produced divide to form four haploid daughter cells and a nuclear envelope is formed.
