Q. The boiling point of methanol is greater than methyl thiol because

KEAMKEAM 2004Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure

Solution:

In methanol $(CH_3OH)$ intermolecular H-bonding increases the h.pt. S with lesser electronegativity (than O) and larger atomic size (than O) cannot take part in H-bonding as methyl thiol $(CH_3SH)$ has lower b.pt. than $CH_3OH$.
