Q. The boiling point of ethanol is higher than that of dimethyl ether

Alcohols Phenols and Ethers

Solution:

Due to association of molecules with H-Bonds. Boiling points of alcohols are much higher than those of ethers of corresponding molecular mass due to the formation of hydrogen bond among the hydroxyl group of two molecules of an alcohol (Intermolecular H-bonding)
