G1 phase is part of the interphase in the cell cycle process of a eukaryotic cell. G1 phase is the stage between mitosis and initiation of DNA replication (S phase). In the G1 phase, the cell is found to be metabolically active and shows continuous growth. S or synthesis phase is where DNA synthesis or replication takes place in the cell.
