Q. The atomic weight of thorium is 232 and atomic no Z = 90. Disintegration of thorium finally gives Pb for which A = 208 and Z = 82. For this process the number of $ \alpha $ and $ \beta $ particles respectively are

Number of $\alpha$-particles
$ =\frac{232-208}{4}=6 $
Number of P-particles
$ =6\times 2-(90-82)=4 $
