NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2020Microbes in Human Welfare

Solution:

BOD refers to the amount of oxygen that would consume if all the organic matter in one litre of water is to be oxidized by bacteria. The sewage water is treated till BOD is reduced. The greater the BOD, greater is the polluting potential. Once the BOD is reduced the effluent is then passed into a settling tank where the bacterial flocs are allowed to settle.
