Q. The agency responsible for seed dispersal in cotton, poppy and orchids is

AMUAMU 1997

Solution:

: Seed dispersal in cotton, poppy and orchids takes place by wind (called anemophily). For dispersal by wind, fruits and seeds should be light, so that their buoyancy may help them to fly upto a long distance. Seeds of orchids are minute, dry and lighter than sand particles. Cotton seeds have hairy outgrowths to help in dispersal.
