The age of tree can be determind by its annual growth ring. which can be observed in horizontal cross section of tree trunk. These growth ring are result of new growth in vascular cambium and is classified as lateral meristem. These visible rings result from the change in growth speed through the season of the year, thus one ring usually marks the passage of one year in the life of the tree.
