Solution:

The pupil is a circular opening of the iris that lets the light in. The pupil size is controlled by two muscles, the circumferential sphincter muscle and the iris dilator muscle running radially to adjust the incoming light. The adjustment of the pupil towards light is an example of adaptation, where the entry of light is controlled. The round, black coloured pupil allows the exact focus of light to fall on the retina to begin the process of sight.
