Solution:
Entamoeba coli is a type of amoeboid protozaons. They are generally considered nonpathogenic and reside in the large intestine of the humans. Both cysts and trophozoites of it are passed in stool and considered diagnostic. Colonization of the nonpathogenic amebae occurs after ingestion of mature cysts in contaminated food, water or fomite. Excystation takes place in the small intestine and trophozoites are released, which migrate to the large intestine. The trophozoites are the active form and feed on RBCs, tissue debris and bacteria.
