Q. The absolute temperature of a gas determines

Kinetic Theory

Solution:

The velocity of sound in a gas is given by:
$
\begin{array}{l}
v _{\text {sound }}=\sqrt{\frac{\gamma R T}{M}} \\
v _{\text {mean square }}= v _{ RMS }^{2}=\frac{3 RT }{ M }
\end{array}
$
Hence, both mean square velocity and velocity of sound are functions of temperature.
