Engelmann experimented on Cladophora, he illuminated Cladophora with white light after passing through prism. He used aerobic bacteria to detect oxygen evolution site, and observed that maximum bacteria accumulated in blue and red region of the spectrum, indicating that maximum photosynthesis occurs in this region.
