Q. Sucrose is not a reducing sugar since

Biomolecules

Solution:

All those carbohydrates which contain aldehydic or ketonic group in the hemiacetal or hemiketal form and reduce Tollens' reagent or Fehling's solution are called reducing sugars. Disaccharides like sucrose in which the two monosaccharide units are linked through their reducing centres, i.e., aldehydic or ketonic groups are nonreducing.
