Q. Statement I: The maximum possible height attained by the projected body is $\frac{u^2}{2 g}$, where $u$ is the velocity of projection.
Statement II: To attain the maximum height, body is thrown vertically upwards.

Motion in a Plane

Solution:

For maximum height $\theta=90^{\circ}$, or body must be projected straight upwards. Then
$0=u^2-2 g h$,
$\therefore h=\frac{u^2}{2 g}$.
