For astronomical telescope, $|m|=\left|\frac{f_{o}}{f_{e}}\right|$.
So, magnification is inversely proportional to focal length of the eyepiece and directly proportional to focal length of objective. The larger $f_{o}$ and smaller $f_{e}$ will given better magnification.
