Q. Statement I: Displacement current goes through the gap between the plates of a capacitor when the charge of the capacitor does not change.
Statement II: The displacement current arises in the region in which the electric field and hence the electric flux remains constant with time.

Electromagnetic Waves

Solution:

Displacement current arises when electric field in a region is changing with time.
$I_{D}=\varepsilon_{0} \frac{d \phi_{E}}{d t}$
It will be so if the charge on a capacitor is not constant but changing with time.
