Q. Statement 1: The number of unpaired electrons present in $[CuCl_{2}]^{-}$ complex is zero..
Statement 2:The complex is linear in the solid state with sp-hybridization

Coordination Compounds

Solution:

Correct statement 2: The complex, $[CuCl_{2}]^{-}$ (as well as $[CuCl_{3}]^{2-}$ and $[CuCl_{4}]^{2-})$ are tetrahedral in the solid state. In $KCuCl_{2}$, there are chains in which $Cu$ is tetrahedrally surrounded by $Cl$ with simple units joined into a chain by shared halide ions.
