Q. Statement 1: Recent convention to represent $K_p$ is dimensionless.
Statement 2: The standard state of pure gas is 1 bar and the partial pressure of reactants and products measured with respect to this standard are used to determine $K_p$ for the equilibrium.
$A\left(g\right)+2B\left(g\right)\to C\left(g\right)$

Equilibrium

Solution:

Let partial pressure of reactants and products are a, b, c bar respectively with respect to standard state, then
$A\left(g\right)+2B\left(g\right)\to C\left(g\right)$
$P_{A}=\frac{a bar}{1 bar}=1$
Similarly $P_{B}=b$ and $P_{c}=0$
Thus, $K_{p}=\frac{c}{a\times b^{2}}$ is dimension less.
