Q. STATEMENT 1: Molecules that are not superimposable on their mirror images are chiral
because
STATEMENT-2: All chiral molecules have chiral centres.

JEE AdvancedJEE Advanced 2007

Solution:

It is not necessary that all chiral molecules have chiral centres. There are molecules, such as, meso compounds which are superimposable on their mirror image even though they contain chiral centres. Also, there are other factors which can determine whether a molecule is asymmetric or not, for example presence of symmetry elements.
