Q.
Stanley L. Miller conducted experiments in $1953$ on prebiotic
earth environment using special apparatus. The primary
surprising products were?
Evolution
Solution:
A British scientist, J.B.S. Haldane, suggested that life originated from simple inorganic molecules. Two scientists, Stanley Miller and Harold Urey were the first to put to test, the Oparin - Haldane theory, in the year 1953. They created a condition similar to that of primitive earth (i.e. high temperature, volcanic storms, reducing atmosphere) containing ammonia $\left( NH _3\right)$, water vapour $\left( H _2 O \right)$, hydrogen $\left( H _2\right)$, methane $\left( CH _4\right)$. They made electric discharge in a closed flask containing $CH _4, NH _3, H _2$ and water vapour at $800^{\circ} C$. As a result, some amino acids are formed.
