Q. Solid ammonium carbamate dissociated according to the given reaction
$NH _{2} COONH _{4}( s ) \rightleftharpoons 2 NH _{3}( g )+ CO _{2}( g )$
Total pressure of the gases in equilibrium is $5\, atm$. Hence $K _{ p }$

Equilibrium

Solution:

$NH_2COONH_4(s) \rightleftharpoons \underset{2 P}{2NH_3} \,\,\, \underset{P}{CO_2}$
Total pressure $=2 P+P=3 P=5\, a t m$
$\Rightarrow P=\frac{5}{3} a t m$
$K_{P}=P_{C O_{2}} \times P_{N H_{3}}^{2}$
$=\frac{5}{3} atm \times\left(\frac{2 \times 5}{3} atm \right)=18.51$
