Q. Silver is monovalent and has atomic mass of 108.Copper is divalent and has atomic mass of 63.6. The same electric current is passed for the same length of time through a silver coulo meter and a copper coulo meter. If 27.0 g of silver deposited, then corresponding amount of copper deposited is

Electrochemistry

Solution:

$\frac{W_{Ag}}{E_{Ag}} = \frac{W_{Cu}}{E_{Cu}}$
$ \therefore \frac{27}{108} = \frac{W_{Cu}}{31.8} $
$\therefore W_{Cu} = 7.95\, g$
