Solution:

RNA interference (RNAi) is a process where a particular mRNA is not allowed to undergo translation by binding it with a complementary segment of mRNA. As a result, a dsRNA is formed which makes the original mRNA useless for making protein. This has been observed to be a cellular defense mechanism and utilized in developing a transgenic Tobacco plant that is resistant to the pest.
