Schiffs reagent and Schiffs bases are entirely different compounds. Schiffs reagent is magenta solution (Rosaniline dye) decolourised by sulphurous acid $ ({{H}_{2}}S{{O}_{3}}) $ . Schiff base is obtained by condensation of aldehydes/ketones with amines, $ RCH=O+{{H}_{2}}N\,R\xrightarrow[-{{H}_{2}}O]{{}}\underset{Schiffs\,\,base}{\mathop{RCH=NR}}\, $
