Q. Salt concentration (salinity) of the sea measured in parts per thousand is

Organisms and Populations

Solution:

Salinity of water bodies is generally measured in parts per thousand. It determines what kind of organisms can live in it. Salinity of the sea is $30$-$35$ parts per thousand, while for inland waters and some lagoons is less than $5$ and more than $100$, respectively. Fresh water animals generally cannot live for long in sea water and vice versa because of osmotic problems.
