Salicylaldehyde can be separated from the mixture of salicylaldehyde and p-hydroxy benzaldehyde by Fractional distillation.

In salicyladehyde intramolecular hydrogen bonding decreases surface area of the compound hence decreases boiling point hence the boiling point of para derivative is more than the ortho derivative so they can be separated by fractional distillation.
