Q. Respiratory quotient may be represented as

Respiration in Plants

Solution:

During aerobic respiration, $O_2$ is consumed and $CO_2$ is released. The ratio of the volume of $CO_2$ evolved to the volume of $O_2$ consumed in respiration over a period of time is called as respiratory quotient $(RQ)$ or respiratory ratio.
$RQ = \frac{\text{Volume of $CO_2$ evolved}}{\text{Volume of $O_2$ consumed} }$
